A note before we start:
Shiitake Mushrooms = Really! You really need me to say it?

I’ve decided to write this blog on behalf of all my fellow SCI buddies.. (For all you able bodied humans out there, SCI = Spinal Cord Injury) The ones that are having that absolute shizen day and need a virtual hug!
I’ve also decided to write this on a day that I am feeling undoubtedly positive about life, because I’m sure if I wrote it on a bad day it wouldn’t be so “G” rated.

It may be winter here in Australia and as cold as it is its still time to put down the remote control, turn off the iPad, and pop your mobile phone on airplane mode..

Rug up, fill up the thermas with a nice warm drink and go and play outside. Your body and your mind will thank you for it. Hibernation is not the answer and it will not make summer come any faster and it also won’t make the next season of Game of Thrones come around any sooner. Sorry folks!

Having a spinal cord injury means my body is constantly fighting with its self, and then theres my stubbornness that is pushing my body to do things that someone with my injury shouldn’t technically be able to do, so lets just say my health is my number one priority as it should be everyones! I suffer with low immunity, and chronic fatigue because of my injury so to keep me functioning at an optimal level, I try to fill my body up with as much goodness as possible and that starts as soon as I wake up. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a fascination with hair. Whether this was because mine never seemed to grow to the length I desired or whether it was because it was so dead straight that I seriously considered having it permed when I was just 13 and the only thing that prevented me from doing so was how short it would end up being. Hair has just always been “my thing.”

I wondered when this day would come. When I would be criticised for my recovery.
I’ve sat back and watched a particular person that I know personally send very incorrect messages throughout the spinal cord injury community, and knowing their story and knowing that the majority of what was being said was false, it literally made me feel sick!

So I made myself a promise, to never sugar coat and never bullshit the truth.
The facts are indeed FACTS!
