Trust your GUT

For as long as I can remember I have suffered with digestive issues which too often make life incredibly crappy – pun intended! Since having a spinal cord injury things have unfortunately become a little more complicated.
I now have what is referred to as a neurogenic bowel which means I don’t really have any control of my bowl which make it incredibly important to focus on what I put into my body to control the symptoms of this newly acquired (going on 9 years) complication.

Many of us take our gut health for granted as without the proper education or knowledge we aren’t aware of just how much of the rest of our body is affected by our gut, so here’s the scoop:

Your immune system resides in your gastrointestinal tract in the form of receptor cells. Because of this prime location, what happens in your gut can powerfully influence your immune function.

Living inside of your gut are 300 to 500 different kinds of bacteria containing nearly 2 million genes. Paired with other tiny organisms like viruses and fungi, they make what’s known as the microbiota, or the microbiome.
Like a fingerprint, each person’s microbiota is unique: The mix of bacteria in your body is different from everyone else’s mix. It’s determined partly by your mother’s microbiota (thanks mum!) the environment that you’re exposed to at birth and partly from your diet and lifestyle. Because of this it is absolutely vital to feed your gut with good bacteria’s by consuming probiotic enriched foods.

2 years ago, our Nutritionist at The Next Step SCI Recovery & Wellness Centre handed me a jar of Probiotic Foods and within just days change in my body began! Rapidly my fatigue levels began to improve, my skin started to clear up, and most importantly my digestive system actually began to function properly, i.e.; MY POOPS BECAME REGULAR!

Why Probiotic Foods?
Since the beginning of time, Mother Nature provided us with our essential gut bacteria (probiotics) from the natural food we ate but man has proven that interfering with nature has created more disease, obesity and dysfunction than ever before in human history. Therefor Probiotic Foods believe that food should be created and presented with love and positive intent, so the end user receives a product containing this positive, energetic, imprint.

Probiotic Foods for Everyone
Probiotics at last have been recognised as being essential for good health and wellbeing especially in Australia. As more and more supplements come onto the Australian market every week, the choice of what to choose becomes ever more difficult. Especially when one looks at the variety of probiotics and food combinations that are now available. This is where we, at Probiotic Foods, come to the rescue with a complete package, even though everyone has different needs. Our range has specialty products for everybody, and all with probiotics, pre-biotics, and a variety of specially selected organic foods that have been broken down by a special process to make the foods more readily available.

What difference does this make?
Because the foods are all broken down they are more easily absorbed, which means there is far greater chance of the nutrients, vitamins and minerals getting to your cells. If your food is absorbed then your body can restore. Without this happening, it is impossible to be healthy. And to show just how well this happens with Probiotic Foods, we advise first time users start with only 1/8th of a teaspoon until your body has adjusted to receiving nutrition at this level.

The importance of maintaining a healthy gut

Most people have poor gut health due to a variety of lifestyle and environmental factors such as poor diet, toxic exposure, stress and antibiotics.

More and more, science is now recognising the importance of gut friendly bacteria. Probiotics play an important part in keeping the body healthy. Ongoing medical studies are now finding that many conditions are the result of compromised gut bacteria. With the ever increasing decline in human health we have to look at the basics if we ever intend to change the illness epidemic. The basics of a healthy body is as simple as being hydrated, with a healthy digestive system that can break down food and a gut full of healthy viable probiotics. Probiotics assist by replenishing the gut with the essential good bacteria, allowing us to absorb the nutrients from the food we eat. It is these vitamins and minerals from food that repair our cells and help prevent future illness.

What are the signs that we need probiotics?

Are any of these symptoms sounding familiar? If so, I cannot recommend Probiotic Foods highly enough, and if you are anything like me who already takes a multitude of supplements and couldn’t possibly add one more to the bunch, I GOT YOU! Probiotic Foods comes in a powder form that you can literally put in anything and it will not alter the taste. I literally shove it in everything from my morning oats, to cold pressed juices, smoothies and even in stir-frys. There’s even one for your pets too!
Your totally welcome :)
